Coho’s Beginnings

‍
We’re excited to announce the launch of Coho - The Direct to Experience ™️ Learning Network For Professional Growth.

As a spinout from On Deck, Coho is continuing to bridge the gap between learning and experience for professionals.

On Deck recently shared a renewed focus on scaling founder communities to accelerate the startup economy.

CEO, Coho

Building off our On Deck DNA, we’re continuing to grow our Design, Engineering, Data Science, Chief of Staff, Marketing, Business Development and Sales communities.

Over the coming weeks, applications will open, and new members will join in early 2023.

We're also proud to share that On Deck has backed Coho by seeding this opportunity.

Coho brings together a team of incredibly talented, diverse, and experienced leaders and community builders to achieve this mission. Most of the team was formerly at On Deck, including our program partners with a breadth of experience building and scaling teams and communities at Webflow, Netflix, Coursera, Amazon, Salesforce and others.

I remain a firm believer that peer-to-peer learning is the best way to energize your career. I am thrilled that our former On Deck teammates will continue to build on the legacy of our career communities under the Coho brand.

David Booth, CEO of On Deck

The future of business is the business of learning.

‍
Today in business, there is a growing disconnect between learning and experience. A history of fixed skills, inflexible career planning, and siloed work behaviors have led to a culture of job insecurity in a rapidly changing landscape. The result is wasteful and drains people of their energy as their careers accelerate toward burnout.

This divided growth model was built for the traditional career path. However, this model has failed to stand up against the rapidly changing work landscape. Nearly a third of U.S. workers under 40 considered changing careers during the pandemic.1 While the pandemic may have manifested the Great Resignation, it was not the cause.

Professionals today are choosing non-linear career paths. Adaptability and continuous growth are critical to their success in this ever-changing landscape. The only way for people to be ready for the future of business is to keep learning and evolving as their careers do and as our society continues to redefine our relationship with work.

What we need is a new approach

‍
Coho, as The Direct To Experience ™️ Learning Network, connects learning with experience, so people feel empowered in their lives, careers, and their organizations.

By building highly curated inclusive communities and creating flexible, real-time peer-to-peer curriculums that grow with changing desires and needs, we’re continuing to close the gap between learning and experience.

Our beliefs and behaviors

1. The future of learning is decentralized

We design The Direct to Experience ™️ model by connecting talent with talent

2. We encourage people to explore career options, not judge them for doing so
‍
We see careers as a fluid, ongoing experience, not a fixed destination

3. Learning outcomes should be centered around tangible results
‍
We create flexible, real-time peer-to-peer curriculums that grow with changing desires and needs

4. Community elevates talent and energizes your career
‍
We create a renewable business network that simultaneously turns experience into learning and learning into experience

5. Our mission is to build a space where you come to raise your talent with talent
‍
With community, while learning from and with others, you energize and diversify your career.

In the coming weeks, applications will open to our Direct To Experience ™️ Learning Network, and new members will join our existing communities for Design, Engineering, Data Science, Chief of Staff, Marketing, Business Development and Sales in early 2023.

In the meantime, we have a lot of work to do; follow along for updates below!

I see Coho as a fundamental innovation and the natural outcome of our work building professional growth focused communities at On Deck for the last two years.

We now have the opportunity to be laser-focused on our members and continue building a space where what you learn is directly applicable to your day-to-day, while also addressing the fact that our relationship with work is changing. The opportunity ahead of us is enormous, and we’ve barely even scratched the surface.
